IAG Cargo is expanding its network with the introduction of new direct airfreight services starting in June. The primary new route will establish three weekly flights between Madrid (MAD) and Monterrey (MTY), marking the first direct connection offered by IAG Cargo between Europe and Northern Mexico. This new service aims to facilitate trade flows and provide increased cargo capacity for goods moving between these regions.
In addition to the Madrid-Monterrey route, IAG Cargo will also commence three weekly services connecting Barcelona (BCN) with Lima (LIM). These new routes collectively aim to bolster air cargo capacity and support existing trade lanes between Europe and Latin America, addressing demand for efficient freight transportation.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this expansion signifies increased options for air cargo shipments between Europe and Mexico, particularly for the industrial hub of Monterrey. The direct service from Madrid could lead to faster transit times and potentially more competitive rates on this specific lane, reducing reliance on indirect routes or transshipment points. The Barcelona-Lima connection also offers enhanced capacity for the South American market, providing more flexibility in routing and scheduling for cargo destined for Peru.
