GTT has confirmed receiving an order from HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) during the second quarter of 2026. The contract involves providing the tank design for two new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs). These vessels are being built for the ship-owner Sonangol and will be constructed at the HD Hyundai Samho shipyard.
This order signifies continued investment in the global LNG shipping fleet. For freight forwarders, this indicates a steady expansion of specialized vessel capacity for gas transport. While not directly impacting general container or dry bulk rates, an increase in LNG carrier availability contributes to the overall stability and growth of the global maritime energy supply chain, potentially influencing energy costs which can indirectly affect operational expenses for logistics. The construction of these new vessels will support future energy demands and trade routes for LNG.
