Global container shipping schedule reliability saw an increase in April 2026, rising by 0.4 percentage points compared to the previous month. The overall reliability figure reached 62.4%, making it the highest recorded for the year to date, as reported by Sea-Intelligence in its Global Liner Performance (GLP) report. This performance also represents an improvement year-over-year.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, enhanced schedule reliability means more predictable arrival times for cargo. This can lead to better planning for inland transportation, reduced demurrage and detention charges, and improved inventory management for shippers. Increased reliability also helps mitigate supply chain disruptions, allowing for more efficient resource allocation and potentially fewer expedited shipping requests.
