Frankfurt Cargo Services (FCS) has officially launched a new Pharma Center at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), a facility that has been under construction for nearly two years. This new center is both CEIV- and GDP-certified, ensuring high standards for pharmaceutical logistics. The expansion quadruples FCS's capacity for handling temperature-controlled cargo, a critical requirement for pharmaceutical products.
The 3,300 square meter facility is designed to consolidate all pharmaceutical handling processes, which is expected to streamline operations. By centralizing these activities, FCS aims to reduce overall transit times for pharma shipments and eliminate their exposure to uncontrolled environmental conditions during processing.
For freight forwarders and logistics managers, this development at Frankfurt Airport means enhanced reliability and increased capacity for airfreight pharmaceutical shipments. The expanded, certified space provides greater assurance for maintaining cold chain integrity, potentially leading to more efficient and secure routing options for sensitive cargo through FRA. This could also alleviate some capacity constraints for pharma logistics in the region.
