The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently announced the revocation of two more electronic logging devices (ELDs) from its approved list. The affected devices are Safe ELD and MYLOGS ELD. This action increases the total number of non-compliant ELDs removed by the agency to 67 since January 2025.
Carriers currently utilizing either Safe ELD or MYLOGS ELD are mandated to replace these devices with compliant alternatives by July 7, 2026. Failure to comply with this deadline will result in out-of-service orders, preventing vehicles from operating.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development underscores the critical importance of verifying the compliance status of all ELDs used by their contracted carriers. Non-compliance can lead to significant disruptions, including delays, fines, and vehicles being taken out of service, directly impacting shipment schedules and delivery commitments. It is advisable to proactively communicate with carrier partners to ensure they are aware of these revocations and are taking necessary steps to transition to approved devices well before the deadline.
Moving forward, the FMCSA is expected to continue its oversight of ELD compliance, and carriers should remain vigilant about any further updates to the list of approved devices.
