Croatia and Hungary have officially signed the agreement for the Baltic-Adriatic Rail Freight Corridor (RFC), formalizing their participation in this key European rail network. Although the corridor already physically traverses both countries, their transport authorities were not previously part of the official framework, which limited the scope of integrated planning and operational coordination. This new agreement is anticipated to enhance the efficiency and capacity of rail freight services across the region.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies improved predictability and potentially faster transit times for cargo moving between the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic Sea. The formal inclusion of Croatia and Hungary is expected to lead to better coordination among national rail infrastructure managers, reducing administrative hurdles and operational bottlenecks. This could result in more competitive rail freight options, particularly for intermodal shipments connecting Central and Eastern Europe with major ports.
