JE Ocean Heavy Industries has announced it has secured orders for six new tankers. The company signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) with a shipowner based in Oceania for the construction of two 157,000-ton crude oil carriers and four 114,000-ton crude and petrochemical tankers. This significant order comes as JE Ocean Heavy Industries proceeds with its planned acquisition of the Gunsan Shipyard.
This move suggests a strategic effort to revive shipbuilding operations at the Gunsan facility. The acquisition and subsequent orderbook are expected to bring renewed activity to the shipyard, which has faced challenges in the past.
