Japanese tanker operator IINO Kaiun Kaisha, known as IINO Lines, has finalized a time charter contract with the energy and commodities trading group BGN. The agreement is for a new Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) that will feature dual-fuel capabilities, allowing it to operate on both liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and traditional marine fuels. This 90,000-cbm vessel is currently being constructed by South Korea's HD Hyundai.
This development reflects the growing trend in the maritime industry towards adopting cleaner burning fuels to meet stricter environmental regulations and reduce carbon emissions.
