Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, revealed that the nation's ports processed a total of 233 million tons of cargo and 11.1 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) throughout 2025. These figures were disclosed during Egypt's World Maritime Day celebration in Alexandria, an event aligned with the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) 2026 theme, "From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence."
The minister highlighted that this notable increase in both cargo and container traffic occurred despite ongoing regional geopolitical challenges. He attributed this positive performance to strategic and successful investments in the development of new container and multipurpose terminals across Egyptian ports.
