Mammoth Freighters has successfully delivered its first Boeing 777-200LRMF converted freighter aircraft to Jetran, a significant milestone for the company's conversion program. This delivery is the initial aircraft in an order exceeding two dozen units, with 13 of these freighters specifically designated for operational deployment within the DHL global air cargo network.
This delivery follows the aircraft's public unveiling at the Farnborough International Airshow, marking a crucial step in bringing the converted freighter to market. The 777-200LRMF conversion aims to extend the operational life and cargo capacity of passenger aircraft, addressing the growing demand for dedicated air cargo lift.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the introduction of these converted 777 freighters, particularly those joining DHL's fleet, signifies a potential increase in long-haul air cargo capacity. This could lead to more stable capacity availability on key trade lanes, especially for heavier and larger shipments. While immediate rate impacts are unlikely, a sustained increase in freighter capacity could contribute to moderating air freight rates over time, offering more routing options and potentially improving schedule reliability for urgent or oversized air cargo.
