Jumbo Maritime recently completed the discharge of three substantial project cargo modules from its heavy-lift vessel, Fairplayer, at the Port of Rotterdam. Each module had a weight of up to 280 tonnes. The complex lifting operation was executed using the Fairplayer's onboard dual 900-tonne cranes, complemented by a specialized modular lifting frame to ensure safe and efficient handling. Collaboration with Mammoet and HEBO was crucial for the seamless ship-to-barge transfer of these oversized components.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this highlights the specialized capabilities required for heavy-lift and project cargo. Such operations demand meticulous planning, specialized vessel types, and coordinated efforts with multiple logistics partners. The successful execution in a major port like Rotterdam demonstrates the continued demand for robust breakbulk services for large industrial components. Forwarders handling similar cargo should note the importance of selecting carriers with appropriate lifting capacities and experience in complex port logistics.
