DAE (Dubai Aerospace Enterprise) has announced a purchase and leaseback agreement with Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, for four new Boeing 777F freighter aircraft. These new freighters are slated for delivery between October 2026 and May 2027. The acquisition aims to bolster Saudia's expanding cargo operations, providing significant additional long-range capacity to serve key markets across its international network.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this agreement signals a future increase in air cargo capacity from Saudia, particularly on long-haul routes. While the deliveries are still several years away, the addition of these modern, efficient freighters could lead to more competitive rates and improved schedule reliability for shipments to and from regions served by Saudia's expanding network. Forwarders should monitor Saudia's route announcements closer to the delivery dates to leverage these new assets for their clients' air cargo needs.
