Terminal Italia, a company under the state-owned FS Logistix group, has secured the management contract for the future Orte Intermodal Terminal. This new facility, located in the vicinity of Rome, is designed to significantly expand intermodal rail freight capabilities in central Italy.
For freight forwarders and logistics operations managers, the new Orte terminal represents a crucial infrastructure upgrade. It is expected to improve the efficiency and reliability of rail transport options to and from the Rome area, potentially reducing reliance on road transport for long-haul movements. This could lead to more stable transit times and potentially more competitive rates for cargo moving through this region. Increased capacity at a modern intermodal hub should also help mitigate congestion and streamline cargo flows, offering better planning predictability for shipments.
