The European Commission initially unveiled the Military Mobility Package in late 2025. Its primary objective is to enhance the efficiency and speed of military transport within and across EU member states, particularly in response to evolving geopolitical landscapes and security needs.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators, these plans could introduce new complexities. Increased military movements might lead to heightened road congestion, particularly on key strategic routes, potentially causing delays for commercial cargo. Furthermore, the prioritization of military logistics could impact resource allocation, such as driver availability or specific vehicle types, potentially leading to capacity constraints or increased operational costs for civilian transport. Forwarders may need to factor in potential disruptions and adjust routing or scheduling to mitigate impacts on their supply chains.
